Four Qatari designers to present creations at 14th DJWE

Four young Qatari designers will debut their creations on an international stage as they showcase their works alongside renowned international brands at the 14th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), organizers announced yesterday.
Up-and-coming talented local designers Noor Al Fardan (owner of Noudar), Nada Al Sulaiti (of Hairaat), Sarah Al Hammadi (of Sarah’s & Co) and Fajr Al Attiya (of Trifoglio) will display their works and introduce their brands in a 206-metre space inside the main exhibition hall of the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from February 20 to 25.
This is part of the Young Qatari Designers initiative, a fresh feature and a major highlight of this year’s expo.
“We are particularly pleased with the plans for this edition of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, which give outstanding local talent the chance to shine alongside global luxury brands,” said Ahmed Al Obaidli, Director of Exhibitions at Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) at a press conference yesterday.
The initiative will be sponsored by Fifty One East for the coming three editions.
“We are delighted to help bring Qatar’s most exciting and gifted young designers to an international stage. By exhibiting at DJWE, these designers will ensure that Qatari culture and craftsmanship are passed down another generation, and I expect their displays to be a vast attraction for visitors of all backgrounds,” Bader Al-Darwish, Chairman and Managing Director of Darwish Holding, said in a statement.
Nada Al Sulaiti, one of the young designers expressed excitement on the new initiative, saying it will serve as a platform for them to introduce their brands regionally and internationally as well as serve as a great opportunity to break into the vibrant luxury market.
“Qatar’s business events sector is set for success thanks to growing event management services, and increasing exhibition space spread out through world-class venues. And, QTA is proud of DJWE, which is considered the longest-running and most anticipated exhibition in Qatar’s annual calendar of events, and continues to reinforce the country’s position as a premium business events destination,” said Al Obaidli.
DJWE 2017 will feature a series of enchanting experiences akin to fairy tales, including the opportunity to have glamorous photos taken by internationally renowned Harcourt Studio; workshops offering a deeper knowledge of craftsmanship essentials in jewellery, and of horology (the art of making clocks and watches) with Objectif Horlogerie.
The exhibition will also feature an indoor/outdoor garden café in and a special exhibition of unique vintage pieces.
Mazen Abd Rabbo, General Manager of event organisers Auditoire Qatar said, “We are proud to organise this major luxury exhibition, which is one of the largest business-to-customer jewellery and watches exhibition on the global calendar and is becoming an essential player on the watch and jewellery international scene,” he said.
Over 500 brands will be displayed by 40 exhibitors from ten countries at the show. Qatar National Bank is the official sponsor, Qatar Airways the official airline partner and Shangri-La Hotel Doha the hotel partner.
Qatar Airways is offering holiday packages including discounted flights from the GCC to attract more visitors to the expo.
